The Eccentric City newspaper – the world’s first dedicated tabloid newspaper online activity.

Welcome to the world’s first dedicated eccentric newspaper - a magazine in a newspaper format, currently an annual / ad hoc tabloid hardcopy publication that serves to review, preview, present and promote the nuances of personal and creative pursuits, interests and fascinations!

Culled from our very own research and delights, my role, as editor, is to operate like a private investigator - to seek and find people that exhibit something that we have no definition for. My co-visionary and explorer, Mr Professor Si Walker, is the eccentric toaist (and the newspaper’s designer) - whenever he smiles at a new line of enquiry, we must strictly follow this up as an indication of potential eccentricness to report upon.

Our first newspaper was launched in December 2006. The second in December 2007 and the third issue in May 2009.

This website is designed to pull all the developments of the paper’s project together including details about the articles we have featured, the contributors and any of their project links. We also wish to provide regular updates on what we are upto including The Eccentric Auctions (our fundraising events), Eccentric TV broadscasts, worldwide readers in situ with a copy of the newspaper (see our gallery page), the international prize draw and the infamous £1 Eccentric Arts Commission.

The eccentric city welcomes contributions and correspondence from around the world. Whilst we are currently based in Birmingham in the UK, we do indeed have many friends in far away places such as Gambia, Peckham (London), LA, Boston, Canada, Egypt through to Holland and Cuba!

We are not a making a profit from this paper nor are we funded by any institution. We are a friendly little set-up, sharing the world of those that have a little quality that makes them – them!
